New public policy on biometrics collection!

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) just announced that biometrics will not be required for in-Canada temporary resident applicants. This is to recognize the disruption to such applicants in the country caused by COVID-19 as all Service Canada locations closed in mid-March.

The following types of in-Canada temporary residence applications will benefit:

  • an extension of a work permit

  • a new work permit

  • an extension of a study permit

  • a new study permit

  • a visitor visa

  • a visitor record to allow you to stay in Canada as a temporary resident

  • restoration (extension) of temporary resident status

  • a temporary resident permit
